The Runway Walk: Fundamentals

A great runway walk is not about being seen — it is about letting the clothes be seen.

**Posture.** Lift through the crown of the head. Shoulders back and down. Ribcage stacked over hips. Practice against a wall: heels, glutes, shoulder blades, back of the head all in contact.

**Pace.** Most catwalks are ~12 metres. Aim for a count of 8–10 steps in and back. Match the music tempo; never rush.

**Pivot.** Two clean pivots at the top of the runway. Plant the lead foot, rotate hips, then shoulders, then head.

**Practice plan.** Twenty minutes a day in heels (or appropriate footwear) for two weeks. Film yourself from three angles. Watch back at 0.5× speed.
